What You Will Learn:
Get the skills and confidence you need to succeed as a banquet server at Seattle's top hotels, convention centers, stadiums, and event venues.
In this class, you will learn how to:
Deliver excellent service before, during, and after an event.
Read a Banquet Event Order (BEO) so you know what is expected for every event.
Set tables, serve guests, clear tables, and keep your work area organized.
Work safely by following food safety, sanitation, and handwashing standards.
Recognize food allergies and respond to guest concerns the right way.
Communicate professionally with guests, supervisors, kitchen staff, and your team.
Navigate banquet spaces with confidence so you can work efficiently during events.
Earn your Washington State MAST permit, which is required to serve alcohol at many hospitality jobs.
By the End of the Class, You Will Be Ready To:

You can register for each class about two months before it starts. Registration opens on the first business day of the month.
For example:
October classes: Registration opens in early August.
February classes: Registration opens December 1.
For this course, you need to have a current food worker card. You should also plan to wear no-slip shoes and well-fitting clothing or the uniform that is provided by your employer. If you have longer hair that should be tied back. Last, you should plan to clear your schedule so you can attend all the days of the training.
This training offers a stipend for attending and completing training. This stipend is dependent on your attendance and completion of the class, if you miss class you may be given a pro-rated stipend. Stipend award details are covered on the first day of class.
Stipend Details: Please plan ahead. Stipends are not paid on the last day of class. They are usually available about four weeks after the class ends while we complete the required processing.
Eligible participants are current employees of partner employers who are also members of UNITE HERE! Local 8. See the Jobs link for the list of partner employers. Eligible participants are those who have not taken the course in the last 18 months.
