Bartending for the Hospitality Professional

This is a smart way to gain practical skills, confidence, and a competitive edge in the growing hospitality industry. Not only will you learn how to mix drinks, handle equipment, and provide excellent customer service, but you also gain valuable knowledge about responsible alcohol service, workplace safety, and local regulations.

Whether you’re starting a new career or a new position at your current employer or looking to enhance your skills in your current role, mastering the art of mixology with bartender training will give you hands-on experience and an industry recognized credential!

You must be 21 years of age to take this class.

The class is approximately 30 hours spread over four, 7.5-hour days, typically scheduled Monday-Thursday. In 2026, the stipend for the Bartending course will be $639.00.

Our culinary training offers stipends for attending and completing training. This stipend is dependent on your attendance and completion of the class, if you miss class you may be given a pro-rated stipend. Stipend award details are covered on the first day of class.

Classes are IN PERSON from 10 am to 6 pm with a ½ hour lunch.

You can register for each class about two months before it starts. Registration opens on the first business day of the month.

For example:

  • October classes: Registration opens in early August.

  • November classes: Registration opens September 1.

Registration for bartending classes close when capacity reaches the limit of 10. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis.

Classes are in Tukwila.

This class is an INTRODUCTORY course for someone who does not currently work in a bartending role. Please check back to see when we offer the Advanced skill building mixology course, coming at a future date.

Stipend Details: Please plan ahead. Stipends are not paid on the last day of class. They are usually available about four weeks after the class ends while we complete the required processing.

Eligible participants are current employees of partner employers who are also members of UNITE HERE! Local 8. See the Jobs link for the list of partner employers. Eligible participants are those who have not taken the course in the last 18 months.
