This 30-hour training introduces bartenders, baristas, servers, guest services staff and other frontline professionals with practical and easy to use Spanish phrases tailored for real hospitality workplace interactions.
Lessons are interactive, and the instructor uses a variety of training techniques like flash cards, role-playing and culturally responsive communication strategies for learning. Participants learn to greet guests, answer common questions, navigate service situations and create a more inclusive, memorable experience for the customer.
NO PRIOR SPANISH LANGUAGE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
This course is meant for those who do not speak Spanish.
You can register for this class about two months before it starts. Registration opens on the first business day of the month. Registration for this class should open October 1.
Our Spanish for Frontline Hospitality training offers stipends for attending and completing training. This stipend is dependent on your attendance and completion of the class, if you miss class you may be given a pro-rated stipend. Stipend award details are covered on the first day of class.
Stipend Details: Please plan ahead. Stipends are not paid on the last day of class. They are usually available about four weeks after the class ends while we complete the required processing.
Eligible participants are current employees of employer partners who are also members of UNITE HERE! Local 8. See the Jobs link for a list of employer partners. Eligible participants are those who have not taken the course in the last 18 months.
